Jarboe - a name that sounds like thunder from the mountains of Avantgarde or Experimental music. As longtime collaborator of a certain NYC-institution but also as a solo artist - she has played a major role in developing soundscapes, genres and a certain look at the world. Therefore we are more than happy to present you with the new single for her upcoming album Sightings - enjoy “The Holy Waters”!
Flow. Floating. Afloat. The first words that I would associate with “The Holy Waters” and its accompanying video. We see shifting shapes that glide from one idea to the other, we hear sounds that without any obvious effort transform into a completely different form from the one before. What starts as a pretty danceable beat underneath a wide space is then the basis that adds spicey strings, some (seemingly) hurdy-gurdy sounds and that ends with a wonderful melancholic outro that spends time on creating an atmosphere befitting to the images of fountains, pools, water running through pipes or behind an elegantly set table. And to round it all up, we get some of the same images and shapes as before again towards the end of the track when the beat from before also comes into the foreground a bit more once again. But what is the one thing that holds all these very different elements together? Well, that is the woman behind that vision. Her voice, her feeling for music, her inner core. Jarboe.
The wonderful people at Consouling Sounds came up with two beautiful variants which you can pre-order straight from their webshop which you should head to right after spinning the miraculous magic that is “The Holy Waters”!
