The ever-evocative and near-perfect Mantra-Doom outfit OM once had a track called “State of Non Return”, so what do you expect from a band of the same name? Exactly, heavy, sludgey Psych-songs and the Bologna, Italy based trio definitely delivers. The trio has “only” four songs on its debut record White Ink - but “Vertigo” with its 8:45 minutes is the shortest one. All tracks combine for more than 40 minutes of mind-bending music connecting the OM-soundscapes with some of the heavy Post-Metal/Sludge atmospheres that bass player Diego and his bandmates in Ropes Inside a Hole are known for. RIAH has drawn comparisons to many other bands, with Russian Circles being my favorite one. When watching State of Non-Return’s video so can not only see those crashing waves but also hear them. If you love your Post-Metal or Sludge a bit more elongated, a bit more swirling and definitely more psychedelic - then you will love this track and record!
