Whipping Boy - a band and also somewhat of a myth, because it was one the “before”-bands. However, when talking to Eugene Robinson and Steve Ballinger one does not feel the dustiness of stories from yonder the hill. The guys are funny as hell, they have stories galore to tell and that surely falls in line with the reason for this interview: There is a restored version of Whipping Boy’s Muru Muru record out for a few weeks - out via Blackhouse Records. There is a whole long story to why the record was re-done, how it all happened but also why the original mix never found its way into the guys’ hearts. Muru Muru was a step away from their former Hardcore and Punk backgriound and that might have been one of the reasons why it was not remotely successful. It is now called Dysillusion, was mastered by Joe Chicarelli, got its new layout from Aaron Turner and will probably blow your mind when remembering WHEN it was done - back in 1984 and it laid the foundations for a sound that became the “hot shit” several years later. Enjoy the conversation which was such a blast!
