22 years ago, Vanessa Van Basten was born in Genoa and quickly they became more than a staple for European Post-Rock, they set standards! On many different levels, for example in their mighty tasteful splits with e.g. our Belgian friends in Hemelbestormer. Or in the way that their music always seemed to have a kind of red thread woven through the tracks. And the same thing can also be said of the new record, which does not lack anything the old ones offered galore. You will get crunchier parts, dreamy elegies, dynamics without playing the by-now-boring loud vs. quiet. VVB is Post-Rock more on the anthemic, long-winding side of things and, yes, yours truly is biased and thus very proud. This is a return in all the glory that you do not get by most of the “comebacks”; here you get a band in their original line-up that knows what they cherished about their own style and sound. Their rekindled love for creating music together really seeps through every single song on Yes, so we are pretty confident that you will enjoy the album and then order it via Subsound Records’ webshop!
