Sometimes we all got some good ol’ fashioned passion for asswhoopin and when it’s that time of day again - next time choose Spesimin and their Thrash-inspired Hardcore. It’s much better than really getting your butt kicked by the big fat muscular dumbster from around the block! Not sure? Well, listen to our premiere for their new single “Stubborn Beast Flesh” here “on the Veil”!
Six years ago, drummer Ian and guitarist Alejandro founded Spesimin uniting some very different musical interests but united by a love for Thrash and Death Metal, before bassist Jeff joined a year later importing his love for NYHC and FDM - so that we get this high-octane kind of Thrash Metalcore on this full-length which collects the songs from their first two EPs and combines them with some new songs! This way the listener can also see their musical evolution a bit clearer, as the tracks from the original demo named Born in the Crypt are an eezie-weezie bit faster than the newer material, but don’t worry, the new songs are also no Doom bangers!
Looking at the influences mentioned above it should be clear that looking at a broad variety of soundscapes within their songs is kind of a longshot. Yet, there is also that little more to Spesimin which one might not notice at first: Drummer and vocalist Ian embellishes the tracks with lyrics that are reflections of his love for Gothic or psychological Horro stories, for example Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein which is the backdrop for the title track of the self-titled release or H.G. Wells’ The Island of Dr. Moreau which inspired the track we are premiering today: “Stubborn Beast Flesh”.
Starting right now, one can place a preorder for Spesimin’s eponymous record at Strange Mono’s Bandcamp site - but now let’s pump some fists, bang some heads and rock on to the beat of “Stubborn Beast Flesh”!
