Bo Ningen – why?
How to define a band whose songs are brimful of life? A band that will set your soul aflame with its music? A quartet that seemingly was made just for Roadburn? Difficult! But when listening to Bo Ningen a few things become crystal-clear and one of them is the fact that their records are great, no doubt, but this band needs to witnessed live! Take their last record The Holy Mountain Live Score as an example: The oscillating cymbals in the opener, the second track’s overwhelming bass-Funk, the meandering yet disruptive guitars in the third… this list could go on for ever and nevertheless, one thing remains: The power that these Japanese Acid-Punkers bring to Roadburn is nearly unmatched. It is quirky but not overly sophisticated, elaborate without being too philosophical. Be ready to be blasted by some of the more Punk-ish moments or the mathy Noise that they deliver. These two ladies and two gents are based in London and have played all over the world, at Glastonbury and Coachella, yet there is no setting more fitting for Bo Ningen than Roadburn and they will rock your socks off whether you are already a Bo-Ning-expert or -novice!
