Author & Punisher is back! Several years after Krüller, which was the Album of that Year for our head honcho Thorsten, he released his latest record Nocturnal Birding and as guitar player Doug is now a full-time member of the band, this also marks a new era for the band. A little less shoegazey as its predecessor, the new album is surely heavier and a bit more industrial. The title is a reference to his interest in birds and also a sign for the record itself as there are numerous bird song elements throughout the tracks. There are samples or parts that resemble bird song and both ways are very intriguing because this natural element of course adds a whole different dimension to the already multi-layered music of Author & Punisher. We talked for all of this, his work as a machine developer, how he coped with the catastrophe that partially destroyed one of the spaces he uses for A&P and we also talk about his charity work along the American-Mexican border! Enjoy our conversation!
