Deep Cross - Scaffolded Dawn

in

This premiere might be a bit unusual even for us - but if you take your time and watch the video for Deep Cross’ “The Churning Ray” without any rush or need for speed, you will discover something very unusual yet really delicious. Glitch-gaze. Enjoy!

Okay, maybe the term “Glitch-gaze” is a bit far-fetched in its “neologistic” nature, but let me explain myself. Glitch is a place holder I want to use to point out, that the basis of this song is electronic music, not Ambient, because it is a bit too bright and slightly too hectic. The suffix “-gaze” is used to indicate a certain pop appeal, not in the ingratiating sense but more to show that the track does not want to push you away. To make it clear and simple: This is a really cool track who uses unusual soundscapes to create a common effect - to calm our worrying souls amidst a sea of worries. That a track like this is released by our friends over at Roman Numeral comes as no surprise, and that the RN alumni Deep Cross are its creators is neither, for they have been connected to the label for a long time now. This is a glimpse into their upcoming record Scaffolded Dawn and I am sure there will be several among our followers who can use a track like this in these dark hours of humanity. And it doesn’t matter at all, whether you call it Ambient, Experimental Doom, Avantgarde or even Glitch-gaze - it’s important that it’s simply great music! (by the way - the great video was done by our good pal Eeli Helin!!!)

You can pre-order the vinyl version via Roman Numberal or via the duo’s Bandcamp; a tape version can be pre-ordered via Phage Tape and now check out our video premiere for “The Churning Ray”!
