And the Zu-festival continues… a few weeks ago we gave you an interview with Massimo and Luca, then you got a record premiere for the Jazzisdead record and now we give you an album premiere for Luca’s newest release with DIVUS! Enjoy the Doom-Jazz meets Electronica side of the Moon!
As the guys said in our interview - they know no genres, they only know good music. When listening to DIVUS one can surely see that - because apart from some very Doomy and Jazzy connotations, this universe is more relying on beats and spheres provided by Luca’s partner in DIVUS, Luciano Lamanna, who is known mostly for his Electronica projects and soundscapes. Here we get the best of both worlds, because the beats Luciano presents here have a kind of crunchy, chunky quality that resembles Doom-drums and combined with a certain slowliness this surely could be connected to Doomjazz. But some of the tracks also breathe some noisey off-shots and then the whole thing is surely glitchier than before. One cannot deny the pull-factor the songs develop and we got to be honest - the only thing that really makes me scratch my (bald) head is the fact that the record is a bit short. However, then again - if it is short and leaves us wanting for more, then the duo must have done something right, ay? And yes, this DIVUS record surely got me wanting more!
If you want to preorder the record, you can do via the Subsound Records’ webstore or also via DIVUS’ Bandcamp. Nevertheless, let’s get to the nitty-gritty, enjoy the new record by DIVUS!
