Need a reason to attend Siem Reap? Here you go!
Siem Reap is the capital of the Cambodian province of the same name most famous for the gigantic and world famous temples of Angkor Watt. It is also the stage moniker for Gilles Demolder’s Experimental Folk project. It is one of these projects that is loved beyond normal measures by its followers and fellows. Siem Reap is Gilles’ outlet for a different form of musical needs. When writing and performing songs as part of Oathbreaker or Wiegedood or several others, one surely needs a bit of a breather, one cannot be angry all the time.
Hence, it is obvious why Siem Reap will also perform at Roadburn, as Gilles will already be on stage with those other two bands. However, do not think, that this is a mere “Oh he’s already here, so let’s book him for that one as well!” - this project is more than just an add-on - it is self-sufficient in a way that many other projects simply can’t be. It is one of these performances you need over the course of such a long festival - and especially a good one for the last day. Enjoy the impact Siem Reap will have on you, just like a visit to the temples in Angkor Watt can have on you!
Siem Reap will perform on Sunday, April 19!
