Zombie Zombie – why?
These guys from Paris were a recommendation by one of our contributors for the Roadburn Special Interview Series which you can find on our YouTube-Channel. When Frédéric from Foudre! said that some of his friends wanted to see Zombie Zombie the urge to check them out increased and, yes, a great addition to this year’s line-up. If one band can check all elements that German Krautrock became famous for, then it might be this one! You got the robot-like vocals that made Kraftwerk so unique (just listen to the track “Rocket Number 9”), the spherical elements of Neu!, the amazing synths of Tangerine Dream or also the outlandish nature of Amon Düül II - listening to Zombie Zombie is like being catapulted through a time-warp right into the arms of Conny Plank and into the flourishing scene that really made a mark on how music can be constructed. When Zombie Zombie then pull off the stunt to create music to dance and to slumber too, then they show how diverse one and the same song can be and that we make it what it is! To quote the great Frank Z. - “Thank you Freddy!”
