Near Light – YES!
If a Post-Rock band from the South of England comes back with another release full of amazing soundscapes and intricate details after more than dozen years of more or less complete silence - what does it tell us about the band? Well, surely one thing: They love what they are doing! In the case of Near Light from Bournemouth that is surely true - they love the style of crescendo-driven, multi-layered Cinematic Post-Rock with long and winding build-ups and warm soundscapes to embrace the audience and give them a feeling of belonging. Belonging together. Belonging right there and then. The audience in front of the stage at 229 on Saturday will witness a band that will not only perform the two tracks from Being and Nothingness but of course also from their self-eponymous release from 2012. And to clarify one thing - there is also a sense of belonging for the Sims bunch and their bandmates: they surely belong on a stage! Thus this gig at Celestial Diadem should be one for the ages!
