The new Smote record Songs from the Free House came out via Rocket Recordings two days ago, and it is once again simultaneously a solo record and the result of a collective effort. Daniel did most of the work himself, but has two guest spots on the record and he can count on many fellows to help him out with the live performances (see the dates below for the remaining six gigs this year). A few months ago he already released a live record and he explains why he did that. The new tracks, however, are a bit different but nevertheless very engaging, multi-layered and a step forward while still clearly being Smote. We talk about the many different things connected to the track and also focus on the electronic influences he had for this record, or the notion of him being a “Northumbrian artist”. Enjoy our conversation and tell us what you think about the new songs!
