Lähdön Aika - Teuraaksi Kastettu

in

Do you remember the biblical story of Jericho? The city was not conquered but destroyed via “sound”? I think that “noise” could have been made by Lähdön Aika and when listening to our new premiere today, you will surely think so too! Here is “Teuraaksi Kastettu”!

The record is surely a great result of years of carving out sound, working out the tiniest details and arranging for a sound to shake the very foundations of cities older than the history of mankind. If somebody played the new record Mustalle Maalle in the face of a city like Damascus, Jableh or Erbil the walls would surely have collapsed because of the massive sound the Finnish band produces. However, do not mistake that to mean that the band’s musical universe is one of ancient sounds, because it is not. It’s pretty modern, combining classic Sludge and Noise elements, Doom and Hardcore, and it’s always gnashing, scruffing off any edge nearly unconceivable to the eye. This could also be the soundtrack to the collapse of modern society, of buildings crumbling, factories being swept away by the effects of wind and water ending in centuries of rust and decay.

However, giving up isn’t an option even though the lyrics revolve around the lightless themes of death, worthlessness, suicide, human and animal rights and liberties, ecological destruction. Or as vocalist Eeli Helin puts it: “the lyrical content of Mustalle Maalle is directly derived from the worst times of my existence on this wretched planet, and I believe that’s quite audible to everyone regardless of whether or not you speakFinnish.” The latter is surely audible, also in the middle passage of the new track “Teuraaksi Kastettu”, when the drums give a pretty pumping spark in the middle of a short breather. Then the track goes into abbrassive-mode again and we are back at the beginning - one could destroy brick-based buildings with these songs full of Sludgey goodness!

Lähdön Aika’s new record will be released on May 23 and you can soon pre-order it via Bandcamp! And now - onto the masters of corrossion, the kings of the rust belt, enjoy Lähdön Aika’s new song “Teuraaksi Kastettu”!
