Here we go with the first premiere on Veil of Sound for 2025! Let’s start with some very dense Atmospheric Black Metal from Roadburn City, aka Tilburg, Holland. Noctambulist are at it again and give us the second installment in their self-titled series. We are happy to present the single “Gevoelsmens” for you!
When listening to the third track from the upcoming record, out via These Hands Melt on February 7th, the first thing that might strike you is the somewhat happy sounding guitar intro, which is somewhat misleading but also representative of the track’s theme. The band says about the new track: “‘Gevoelsmens’ is a song about nostalgia and living in the past. It invokes the fear of being past one’s prime while at the same time maintaining some hopeful optimism” Thus, this somewhat optimistic (topped with a high-pitched kick-off signal for the storm to start raging) is truly reflective of Noctambulist’s idea. When said storm sets in, it is with the despair of realizing which point in life you are at. This fear or realization is the driving force behind the track and one must admit that the title seems so apt for its translation is “Emotional Person”. The partially cinemascope-like Blackgaze lines in the background further the enjoyable listening experience which combined with the thematic depth is surely given!
You can preorder your copy of Nocta, bulist II: De Droomt through the webstore of These Hands Melt and believe me, the rest of the album is as dense and as good as this single!
