Gott – why?
The last day at Roadburn is a day of reflection, inner reclusion and calm meditation. Wait, what? How wrong! It’s another chance at really shaking your fists, nod your heads and pray to the gods of Rock and Metal - and who might be a better performer for such a dark mass than Farida “The Mouth” Lemouchi who has been in “occult” bands for years now and who will perform again on Roadburn stages with her outfit Gott. Pretty interesting band name for someone who is a gnostic, minimum, and maybe a worshipper of a “different God”, maximum. When listening to the Blues-infused Hard Rock with many elements taken from the Doom side of things the vocals play an immense part, because it is surely not easy to outperform such a tight-knit band of experienced musicians. Let’s hope they perform several songs from the To Hell To Zion-EP and maybe some new tracks - but I will have my fingers crossed for their interpretation of the Fleetwood Mac-classic “The Chain” which is at the same time a completely new version and also sticks close to the original. Amazing work and a perfect gig for a Sunday evening in Tilburg!
