Gilla Band – the early years – why?

Please sit back and imagine the following scenario: some lads, no matter if they are called Arctic Ferdinand or Maximo Party, are known for their highly energetic music which is based on a mix of Throbbing Gristle and Jesus Lizard, Neubauten and Big Black. Pretty angular, a bit less Post than Punk, not focused on throwing their guitars around or destroying them but delivering a show that can move the dancers and impress the nodders. The Dublin-based sunshines are out to catch our attention and affection with their sound full of irregular rhythms, harmonies that contradict each other and their multi-layered vocals. The guitars are sharp and edgy (in a good sense), the drums/percussion are able to drive the songs onto and over the cliff, and their songs have the perfect amount of noise and pulse. This one is for the people who love to dance to music un-dance-to-able for most, who love the stomping beat of a no-bullshit-lots of nonsensical (aka Dadaist) slogans. Gilla Band will perform a very special set of deep cuts, songs not usually on their playlists and b-sides from their vast body of work that will please all those ‘burners ready for some golden Noise Rock!

Gilla Band will perform on Thursday, April 17
