FIRE! apply a vibrant—be it brush or scalpel—to the swath of frenetic jazz-infused energy cauldrons, spilling onto the acoustic canvas unlike any of their predecessors or contemporaries. Surprise and delight is their calling card, the receiver of which is rarely privy to beforehand. So anticipate the unanticipated, succumb to the roar of Mats Gustafsson’s sax, the pummel of Andreas Werlin’s snare, and the weaving snake-like lines of Johan Berthling’s jagged bass. The set is bound to be sweeter than Marabou and Dragster 2000, more bitter than Surströmming and as revelatory as the aurora in October in the basin of the Jokkmokk.
