Flesh Produce - Dog Eat Dog

in

When is Pop still Pop, Punk recognizabley Punk or Glitch-Electronica merely a decoy for the first two? Answer Flesh Produce: Yes. Answer VoS: Check for yourself by listening to “Dog Eat Dog” from the upcoming Flesh Produce record Hyper Chasm!

Many of us will remember the verdict that Nirvana’s Nevermind was nothing more than cleverly arranged and disguised Pop with distorted means? The same could basically be said about the Sex Pistols and their sole album. Pop music can come in many disguises because it has no firmly set formula or boundaries. Thus is can also be at the base of many genres without us really noticing, until we are hooked on a hook, a melody, a line of lyrics, something. And the exact same thing happened to yours truly while listening to “Dog Eat Dog” - I got hooked on some of the elements of this Glitch-Core track. Yes, it is similar to Atari Teenage Riot with lots of far out beats and more, hooks whose instrumental origin remain unclear and a female vocalist that can do much more than your average Jane from the street who might master one style of singing. There are certain short parts, the vaudevillian hurdy-gurdy-soundalikes, some minute ups and downs in the vocals, a near-Pop-like “shout”, I could easily name three or five more elements that really got me. But why don’t you judge for yourself?
