David Sändström is one of those people that you meet and could talk to for hours, because he is a well-versed and very knowledgeable Metalhead. When talking about his love for Oranssi Pazuzu as his “Plug of the Day” that becomes more than obvious, but also when talking to him about Death Metal and how its very orderly character doesn’t reflect the philosophical idea behind it. He has released the self-titled debut record with his latest project Backengrillen two weeks ago through Svart Records and it is an amazing record in the sense of having four veterans of the Swedish music scene in a project that goes beyond most of what they have done before, combines their origins and will still not fulfill any expectations one might have for it, because who cares about expectations, when “the song” demands for something else? We talk about the record, the mighty interesting way it came to life and how this record is already very different from what their next record will sound like which is already being laid out. And there is also a bridge between Backengrillen and UNSANE, who we interviewed last Sunday - both bands will be performing at this year’s Roadburn Festival and we here at Veil of Sound can’t wait for both of these performances! Enjoy!
