Over the last couple of months one could witness the importance of residencies, of organizations bringing together artists for a very often limited amount of time for the purpose of making music together. The idea is maybe to produce a live-set by the collaborators or a record or as is the case with Charles Hayward and Will Brooks from Dälek initially a live-set and then afterwards a record release because the music is too good to online provide it to the live audience. Charles Hayward might be the lesser known partner here, although 20 years ago it would have been different - Charles was the drummer for Gong and This Heat, two highly influential bands. We surely do not have to explain who Will Brooks is, as we already had an interview with him several moons ago. They just released their collaboration that is much much more than the sum of its parts and which has the potential of putting the listener into a non-drug infused trance. Enjoy the non-HipHop-but-still-HipHop-record, a beat-driven-beat-infusing-album and of course, enjoy our interview with Will Brooks!
