In the stillness of the night, I imagine David Lacroix to lay down and contemplate the world and its current state but also his own position in it and how both sides interfere and influence the other. At the end of this process he arrived at a new Appropriate Savagery album from which we proudly present the track “Confused, with Claws Made of Flesh (Scarify my Reflection)”!
Roman Numeral Records is one of these insider niche labels with a cult reputation amongst its followers and now they are releasing the new record by ever-productive Appropriate Savagery. The record shows very nicely how tidbits of Shoegaze, sprinkled with some intimate, short horn sections can team up with a vague Ambient soundscape in order to…. but hey, wait - are these real instruments? Are these real vocals or just hushed sounds resembling human interaction? Does it matter anyway? One thing surely rings true: Three Flickering Horns, Forever Framed is one of these albums which can be anything and nothing. The cold short burst in the middle of the song could be the sound of rain splattering against the window or it could be a single cymbal hit to perfection in the middle of a Black Metal storm. Whatever it is - is up to, because only in connection with you this music exists. It will not take its shape or form without you, without the audience, without us. Whether we agree on the shape or form does not really matter, for either variety is true and holds enough value on its own. In this way the record can be nearly anything you want it to be, but if you listen closely it will mean the world to you.
Pre-Orders for Three Flickering Horns, Forever Framed are already up at Roman Numeral Records’ webstore or you can get them in through their Bandcamp page (see above). And now - I invite you to listen to “Confused, with Claws Made of Flesh (Scarify my Reflection)”!
