Another one of these French Heavy Rock bands illustrating that you do not need to be American to hit hard and that words are a commodity for a Heavy Psych band, not a necessity. Enjoy our premiere of the forthcoming The Baptized record Exilion!
SLIFT is one of the prime examples (and great references) that words are not necessary to get a great record and while we are waiting for them to get back to us with a new record, here is a more than ready newcomer to fill their spot in the hearts of all lovers of heavy, instrumental Psych Rock.
The three cousins (who even look like brothers, I think) from Lille in Northern France are welcoming us with open arms into their sonic universe. Drums, Bass, guitar - et voila, c’est ca! The trio not only restricts themselves to these three instruments but do so trying to find ever-changing different ways of presenting a clear formula. The rhythm sections is swinging back and forth, laying a versatile foundation for the amazing guitar work that gives us all the sonic scenery we need to follow their interesting Sci-Fi-story. When Nicolas’ guitar meanders out into these long-winding, descending and ascending solos one can feel the energy oozing out of the speakers and it becomes clear how amazing these guys must be on stage. Ex-hi-la-ra-ting! I have not heard any new record in 2025, that gave me such an immediate and long-lasting rush of adrenaline. It’s as if they want to make sure to make an everlasting impression. Even when providing a little breather (which they do!) these moments are still exciting to follow along as it’s not normal for a pretty new band, with only one EP so far, to be this good! For the moment the wait is over and the admiration is on!
