Anderwelt - Transanimalism

in

Maybe a bit less symphonic than SubRosa, but surely a bit crunchier. Maybe bit less earthy as Neurosis, but surely a bit more futuristic. Austria’s Post-Metal band Anderwelt returns with a new EP called Transanimalism and we are more than happy to premiere it here on Veil of Sound exclusively for you! Enjoy!

The idea of “transhumanism” is a pretty progressive one, veering on the razorblade between medical advancement and moral responsibility. The idea of prolonging human life by substituting certain “parts” of it is nothing new, just remember the ideas behind Shelley’s Frankenstein. However, that idea is not complex enough for Linz-based band Anderwelt, who connect it with the question how animals would deal with this difficult question.

The band clad this question into a great Post-Metal soundscape combining orchestral elements with heavy riffs, Death Metal growls with softer spoken passages and all in all create a soundscape very reflective of the ideas behind it. A lot of human crunch with many soft fauna-related ideas. One might think of the satirical nature of books like Animal Farm but in my opinion, this is less funny and more pensive. And to set this to music which is progressive and traditional at the same time is definitely a feat not every band can accomplish!

If you want to know more about this intriguing musical project, there is their Bandcamp page to turn where you can also find their previously released music such as the mighty 2084 which you can also purchase via Broken Silence Distribution.
